Clinical Consultancy, Training & Service Development

Thoughtful Support for Complex Clinical Work

I provide clinical consultancy, reflective practice and professional training for clinicians, multidisciplinary teams, managers and healthcare organisations.

My consultancy approach brings together:

  • Psychoanalytic and psychodynamic thinking

  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy

  • Extensive psychiatric nursing and frontline mental-health experience

Psychoanalytic skills help professionals think about the emotional, relational and unconscious dynamics that may influence a complex case, team or wider care system.

Solution-focused thinking supports clinicians and teams to recognise strengths, protective relationships, existing resources and realistic possibilities for change.

My extensive psychiatric nursing background contributes an understanding of risk, safeguarding, care planning, physical and mental health, multidisciplinary working and the practical realities of frontline services.

Professional and Clinical Consultancy

Complex Case Consultation

I offer consultation for professionals working with complex child, adolescent and young-adult presentations.

This may include trauma, attachment difficulties, emotional dysregulation, family relationships, eating disorders, chronic illness, disability, self-harm or significant clinical risk.

Consultation provides space to step back from immediate pressures, develop a fuller formulation and identify thoughtful and achievable ways forward.

Risk Formulation and Care Planning

I support clinicians and teams to develop balanced and psychologically informed approaches to risk.

This includes considering vulnerabilities, patterns of escalation, protective relationships, existing strengths and the resources available to the young person and professional network.

The aim is to develop care plans that are clinically meaningful, collaborative and usable in everyday practice.

Psychodynamic and Systemic Thinking

Complex clinical work can generate powerful feelings within individuals, families and professional networks.

I help teams recognise dynamics that may affect care, including splitting, projection, transference, countertransference and professional anxiety.

These ideas are explained clearly and connected directly to clinical practice.

Specialist Teaching and Training

I design and deliver accessible workshops that connect psychological theory with frontline practice.

Topics may include:

  • Risk assessment, formulation and safety planning

  • Solution-focused skills for mental-health practice

  • Child and adolescent development

  • Trauma-informed care

  • Psychoanalytic concepts for frontline professionals

  • Neurodivergence and developmental transitions

Training can be adapted to the needs, setting and experience of each organisation.

Reflective Practice and Team Support

Reflective Practice Groups

I facilitate structured spaces in which teams can think about the emotional impact of demanding clinical work.

Reflective practice can help staff understand difficult dynamics, reduce reactive responses and restore their capacity for thoughtful decision-making.

Nursing, Frontline and Crisis-Team Development

I support nursing, frontline and crisis teams to strengthen formulation, communication, confidence and clinical decision-making.

This work draws upon psychiatric nursing experience, psychoanalytic thinking and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.

Leadership and Management Consultation

I offer consultation for clinical leaders and service managers navigating high demand, organisational change, performance pressures, team conflict or wider systemic anxiety.

Bespoke Support

Consultancy and training can be offered as a one-off session, a focused programme or an ongoing arrangement.

The content, duration and method of delivery can be adapted to the needs of the clinician, team or organisation.
