Frequently Asked Questions

How Often Are Therapy Sessions?

Individual psychotherapy usually takes place once a week at a regular time.

Some children and young people may benefit from more intensive psychotherapy involving more than one session each week.

Parent work, early years interventions and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy may follow a different structure.

How Long Does Therapy Last?

The length of therapy will depend on the nature and complexity of the difficulties and the child or young person’s developmental needs.

Some interventions may take place over a small number of sessions. Other children and young people may benefit from therapy lasting several months or longer.

The likely duration will be discussed following the assessment and reviewed during the work.

Do You Offer Evening and Weekend Appointments?

Yes. I offer weekday evening appointments, with the latest appointment beginning at 8.00 p.m.

I also run a Saturday clinic beginning from 8.00 a.m.

These appointments may be particularly helpful for children, young people, families and adults who find it difficult to attend during the day because of school or work commitments.

All appointment times are subject to availability. Online sessions may also be offered where clinically appropriate.

How Much Does It Cost?

Sessions cost from £70.

The fee for assessments, individual psychotherapy, parent work or professional consultation will be confirmed before appointments begin.

What Happens If We Need to End Therapy?

Endings are an important part of psychotherapy and should be planned carefully wherever possible.

If a child, young person or family wishes to finish, we will think together about the reasons and agree an appropriate period in which to prepare for the ending.

I will also provide appropriate notice if I believe therapy should end or another form of support would be more suitable.
